About Jeff

My name is Jeff McGrath, and I live in New Plymouth. I work fulltime, and have two school aged children.

I have been competing in the sport of Triathlon for 24 years, and since 2000 my focus turned to endurance Triathlon - specifically half ironman and ironman triathlons.

I have always enjoyed participating in events such as: road running, cross country running, cycle racing, triathlon, duathlon, half marathon, marathon, Half Ironman, and Ironman.

I have competed and completed so many of these that I cannot recall the numbers!

I understand the athlete with a wife, a partner, a spouse, a family, a career, a social life, and the importance of making sure all the pieces fit together.

I have competed in the NZ Ironman in Taupo nine times, with a personal best time of 9:15, and competed in the Hawaii Ironman World Championships five times, with a personal best time of 9:24.

I have also been heavily involved for a long period of time with the Taranaki Triathlon Club, devoting at least ten years to the organisation and committee executive of that club, holding the position of Club President for four seasons. I stepped down from that position in 2009.

Tri NZ Age Group Team Manager

I have been selected as the Triathlon NZ Age Group Team Manager for four previous ITU Triathlon World Championships Events.

2008 - Sprint / Olympic distance team to Canada

2009 - Sprint / Olympic distance team to Australia

2011 - Long Distance Tri team to Las Vegas, USA

2012 - Long Distance Tri team to Spain

2013 – Long Distance Tri team to Belfort, France

2014 - Long Distance Tri team to Weihei, China

2015 - Long Distnce Tri team to Motala, Sweden

In these roles I have a proven record of building relationships with all types of athletes, gaining the trust of all team members, being organised and resourceful, and understanding the needs of travelling and competing.

Why Jeff?

I am often asked how I manage to train and complete 14 Ironman races, and at least 10 or more half ironman's while in fulltime employment, with a busy family life....how do you manage this?

The answer is simple. With a focus on quality not quantity, and by fitting the sport into our life - not our life into the sport!

Now I can help you to do the same.
